Turner Padget Elevates Three Attorneys to Shareholder

Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A. announces that Columbia-based Ian D. McVey and Joshua D. Shaw, and Myrtle Beach-based David R. Sligh have been elected shareholders of the firm, effective Jan. 1, 2017. McVey is a member of the firm’s Business and Commercial Litigation and Business Transactions Practice, Sligh is a member of the firm’s Insurance Litigation Practice, and Shaw is a member of the firm’s Construction Litigation and Product Liability Practices.

McVey counsels lenders, creditors, businesses and individuals in complex litigation, bankruptcy and transactional matters. He has served in the House of Delegates for the South Carolina Bar, and is a past president of the Richland County Bar.

McVey has been recognized by his peers as one of South Carolina Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars and as a Best Lawyer in America in the area of Mortgage Banking Foreclosure Law.

Shaw represents product manufacturers, contractors and professional firms in complex litigation.  He regularly counsels clients in class action lawsuits and has experience with multidistrict litigation. He has also devoted substantial time to local charitable causes and pro bono service, having organized drives to benefit domestic violence shelters and served as a special prosecutor for the South Carolina Attorney General’s office, prosecuting criminal domestic violence crimes on behalf of the State.

Shaw has been recognized by his peers as one of the South Carolina Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars for two consecutive years in the area of class actions.

Sligh counsels and defends individuals and businesses in motor vehicle accident, premises liability, and other negligence lawsuits. He also represents general contractors and subcontractors in construction-related litigation.
