Lauren Mims is an attorney in Turner Padget’s Columbia office, where her practice focuses on insurance litigation. She is dedicated to providing effective and client-centered representation, leveraging her diverse legal experience and commitment to achieving favorable outcomes.
Before joining Turner Padget, Lauren served as an Assistant Attorney General for South Carolina, where she represented the state in Post-Conviction Relief Hearings in both trial and appellate courts. She also gained valuable insight into the judicial system while serving as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Diane S. Goodstein in Dorchester County.
Lauren’s legal foundation was built at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she was an active member of the legal community. She served as President of the Matthew J. Perry Jr. Chapter of the Black Law Students Association, Assistant Articles Editor for the Journal of Law and Education, and a student member of the John Belton O’Neall Inn of Court. Her advocacy skills were further honed through the Carolina Health Advocacy Medicolegal Partnership Clinic, where she assisted low-income families referred by Prisma Health in obtaining SSI benefits.
Before her legal career, Lauren worked as an Equal Employment Investigator at the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission, which cultivated her commitment to fairness and justice.
Lauren has been recognized for her professional excellence, earning the distinction of Columbia Business Magazine's "Legal Elite" in Insurance Law for 2024.
