Jacki Thomas is an experienced attorney dedicated to helping families navigate domestic relations and estate planning matters with care and precision. She focuses her practice on adoption cases—including step-parent, grandparent, relative, third-party, adult, and DFCS adoptions—as well as contested and uncontested divorces, child custody disputes, legitimations, name changes, contempt actions, family violence protective orders, stalking protective orders, and child support issues. Jacki represents clients in both Superior and Juvenile Courts throughout Georgia.
In addition to family law, Jacki assists clients with estate planning, including drafting wills, and Power of Attorneys. Her commitment to supporting families extends to her work with the Augusta University Healthy Grandparents Program, where she helps grandparents adopt or gain custody of their grandchildren. Jacki has been working with the Program since 2020.
Jacki began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable J. David Roper and Honorable Sheryl B. Jolly of the Augusta Judicial Circuit. Since joining the Augusta Domestic Bar Association in 2016, she has become an active leader, serving as Secretary of its Executive Committee from 2018 through 2021, and as Vice President since 2021. In addition to her position with the Augusta Domestic Bar, Jacki serves on the Board of Directors for Safe Homes of Augusta, a state-certified domestic violence center that provides services to domestic violence victims throughout the East Central Georgia region. Jacki has also a spoken at Georgia Continuing Legal Education seminars, presenting on family law updates and changes to the Georgia adoption code.
